Realizing Which Controls To Use In Space Battles

By Monte R. Reinger

Space games are filled with interesting challenges such as gaining new abilities for your character, interacting with alien races, and participating in epic space battles. Science fiction games have always been popular amongst hardcore fans of the video game industry, but in recent years these games have been able to reach an increasingly main stream audience. By improving every individual feature of their games, designers have been able to create elaborate science fiction adventures that feature captivating stories, characters, and visual worlds. If you want to master your character and achieve victory in each of the battles you must fight, you have to really know your game's controls well.

Space battles that are waged as part of PC based games will demand the use of the both the keyboard and mouse in the majority of cases. Game designers normally program several basic commands to the most convenient keyboard buttons. In the majority of situations you will find that movement and direction is controlled by the WASD keys or the standard arrow keys. If the WASD keys are used, you can expect important commands to be linked to nearby keys such as the spacebar, F, and Q keys.

Any space battles that call for the use of complex space vehicles will probably incorporate some directional commands with your computer's mouse. You might need to use your mouse in link with directional keys to keep your character moving and looking in the proper direction or to aim your ship's weapons. The mouse buttons are usually set for basic attacks and similar commands although many games will also allow you to alter the preset commands set to these buttons.

Some games can be played with other input devices, such as joysticks or gamepads, which offer additional control options. These might be particularly useful in specific types of games, such as a space flight simulator that makes effective use of a joystick for good maneuvering.

What is truly important is not which type of input device you select but rather how well you use it and how familiar you are with each of your character's abilities as they related to battle. In doing so you will have the chance to overcome even the most challenging space battles in your favorite sci-fi game, assist other players in cooperative play, and develop a strong character that can advance to the game's final stages.
