Tips On SEO And Your Online Business

By Bellamy Kevin

Each business with a Web site needs to make Search Engine Optimization (SEO) part of their growth strategy, working to get their site ranked as high as possible on the major search engines. With a little work, a different approach, and these tips, you can get your site ranked well with the search engines.

Having a blog will keep your website new and fresh and will help your ranking with search engines. Search engines crawl through websites to find new, updated content. Blogs that get crawled more frequently have more authority and a higher ranking. If you blog, you are ensuring you will constantly have new content.

Search engine optimization revolves around links, but paid links are almost useless. You will not make money on link clicking because the clicks will be so few and far behind. If you are trying to do this, you need to raise your page's rankings and focus on embedding keywords in all your text, titles and images. Link clicking will not make you rich, but search engine optimization in connection with your website can help a lot.

When first establishing your site you should link to a site that is already established as reputable by Google. Applying through Goggle's normal submission process can take a very long time. Linking to an already recognized site is a great way to move your site onto the results page and start getting traffic right away.

Make sure that your website is using a template that won't hurt your ranking factor. One example of how that can happen are from too many links on the sidebar. This is particularly important on what is considered the "primary" pages of your website, such as the homepage or main category pages.

Stay far away from PDF files. If a website uses PDFs, it is basically taking a very large shortcut. This is a sign of a poorly managed website, and search engines view it as such. You do not want to be sen as lazy and therefore ranked poorly by the search engines, so do not use PDFs.

Use the search engines themselves to see how your site is being shown by them. These engines are your one-stop source to see how your consumers are viewing your website before they actually get to it. Check out how your site looks, and change it up as it needs it.

Search engine optimization is an ongoing process. If you decide to use SEO techniques, it is essential to realize that it is an ongoing process. Search engine algorithms change often, so what is working now may not work next year, or even next month. To effectively utilize SEO, you must commit to it long-term.

Make sure that you do not include only keywords in your META description tags. Like the rest of your webpage, search engines will look for keyword stuffing and will penalize you for it. You must keep your descriptions as grammatically correct at all times in order for them to work for you.

Consider having a tag cloud or categories, but not both. I personally use very broad categories on my website and restrict them to only 5, but I use a tag cloud to specify my keywords within those categories. This keeps my navigation from getting too confusing and overwhelming to readers and spiders alike.

As you can see, you need to increase your site's traffic in order to get ranked higher. This is possible to anyone who is willing to do what it takes. Getting your site ranked with the top search engines is highly possible, and can be done by anyone who will give it a chance.
